REBATES

REBATES & ELIGIBILITY
Across Victoria, there are various rebates available for energy-saving services and appliances. These rebates are designed to encourage households and businesses to adopt more sustainable practices and reduce their energy consumption and reduce Co2 emissions. Some of the rebates available include:
The Solar PV Rebate, which provides rebates for solar panel installations.
The Victorian Energy Upgrades program (VEU), which offers discounts on energy-efficient appliances and services like the electric hot water unit, induction cook top as well as a split system air conditioning unit.
Small scale technology certificates (STC's), which are for the retailers/providers to claim once a small scale renewable energy saving system has been installed.
SOLAR PV REBATE

The Solar Homes Rebate is a government initiative in Victoria that provides financial assistance to homeowners who want to install solar. The rebate covers some of the cost a solar panel system, up to a maximum of $1,400 (for systems between 2-10kW). The solar homes rebate is available for Victorian households that install a solar panel system to an existing or an under construction house or, need an upgraded system to an existing system that is 10 years old. The rebate is applicable for owner-occupied primary residences are:
-
Property value at up to $3 million.
-
A combined household income of no more than $210,000 as your taxable income and;
-
Not previously receiving the Solar Homes Rebate.
The solar panel system must be installed by a Clean Energy Council (CEC) accredited installer and meet the CEC's installation requirements. To ensure you're eligible to apply you must obtain:
-
a quote from a Solar Homes authorised solar retailer
-
proof of your household income
-
2 forms of ID to prove your identity online

THE VEU REBATES
Every upgrade allows businesses under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program to generate Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs). Each certificate represents one tonne of greenhouse gas prevented from entering our atmosphere. Accredited providers/installers then sell these certificates to energy retailers. The incentive or discount for households and businesses varies depending on the market activity and certificate price, here are some eligible rebates on services available through Bozlec's partners:

-
Gas to electric hot water installation
-
Ducted gas air-conditioner to electric split system
-
Gas stove to induction cook top
Each installation creates a seperate and unique number of VEEC's depending on the service for the provider to make available to you and include in the rebate.
**The incentive or discount for households and businesses varies depending on the market activity and certificate price.
Depending on the postcode to where the installation takes place will determine and vary different VEEC pricing and rebates. In essence more or less VEECs can be created given the location of the installation; which will vary the overall price of the gas to electric installation you decide to receive.

In order to be eligible for rebates when changing a gas appliance to an electrical energy saving appliance you must meet the following criteria:
-
Property value at up to $3 million.
-
A combined household income of no more than $210,000 as your taxable income

STC's

When a small scale renewable system is installed, the Australian Government provide the small scale technology certificates (STC's) to the accredited installing organisation to then trade. When a certain system is installed, the accredited installing provider earns and can credit a set number of STC's, which are then offset to liable entities (typically energy retailers). All of Bozlec's installing partners include an amount of STC's in the total rebate. STC's are equal to 1 megawatt hour of renewable electricity generated by the following appliances:
-
Solar PV
-
Wind and hydro
-
Solar Water heaters
-
Air Source heat pumps
And the number of STC's generated can depend on:
-
Location
-
Date of install
-
Electricity per MWh
-
Creation over 1 or 5 years or a single maximum deemed period
STC's are designated to a property address and not a property OWNER.
