ABOUT EV
CHARGING

The future is now with EV charging! By 2030 in Australia, it is expected as much as 50% of the general population will be driving an electric vehicle. The types of EV chargers on offer as well as the brands are quite varied:
- Level 1 chargers operate essentially like a wall outlet and will charge slower than other types (2-5 miles of range per hour of charge). Typically good for overnight charge with drivers who commute small distances in their EV.
- Level 2 chargers use a 240-volt AC outlet, similar to those used by large appliances like dryers (10-60 miles of range per hour of charge). *required install of outlet needed.
- Level 3 chargers use direct current (DC) to charge the vehicle's battery directly, bypassing the vehicle’s onboard charger (60-100 miles of range in 20-30 minutes). An ideal location may be at a public charging station or commercial premises
- Ultra fast chargers are an advanced form of DC Fast Charging with even higher power outputs (200-300 miles of range in about 20-30 minutes). Great for newer EV models with large batteries.
Various brands and models vary depending on budgeting needs and specifics, the Tesla wall chargers are on the higher end of the price system along with the Solar Edge EV Charger and Zappi v2 models, where as the ClipperCreek HCS Series and Deta AC Mini Plus can offer a cheaper alternative.
